Medusa for kids: the snake-haired legend
· P.Sean Tales
Imagine having wiggly snakes instead of hair! That's Medusa, the most famous of the Gorgons — sisters from Greek mythology whose gaze was so powerful that anyone who looked straight at them turned to stone.
The hero with the mirror shield
The hero Perseus was sent to face Medusa, and he solved the puzzle like a true clever hero: he never looked at her directly. Instead he watched only her reflection in his polished bronze shield — like using a mirror — and that's how he defeated her safely.
A surprise inside the story
Here's the twist most people don't know: when Medusa was defeated, the winged horse Pegasus sprang into the world from her story! In Greek myth, even the scariest tales can hatch something beautiful.
Why kids love her anyway
Medusa has become one of mythology's most popular characters — artists have drawn her for almost three thousand years. In our coloring book she gets the friendly treatment: smiley snakes and all, so young colorists get the legend without the nightmares.
Did you know?
Ancient Greek soldiers painted Medusa's face on their shields — they believed it protected them by scaring danger away.
